Looks like it’s official, Bluetooth 3.0 is set for its official announcement by the Bluetooth SIG on April 21st. Bluetooth 3.0 is expected to gain a significant increase in speed over the current version and feature enhancements that would reduce disconnects and other connection issues. The Generic Alternate MAC/PHY (AMP) will enable the Bluetooth profiles to take advantage of 802.11 speeds. The 802.11 Protocol Adaption Layer (PAL) will enable the Generic AMP feature to be used with an 802.11 radio.
